Project 24
Our goal is to raise funds to expand our fleet of boats so we can take our success to the next level, building on the unprecedented results of recent seasons. Project24 takes its name from the aspiration of the club to increase the fleet size by 24% over the next few years. Our initial goal is to raise £17,500 for one boat, but we are ambitious and ideally we would like to raise £35,000 for two boats. Watch this space!
Introduction
The University of St Andrews Boat Club has one of the best performance records at the University and although we were awarded performance sport status within Saint Sports in 2014, we still face many of the same problems as the club's founder - a lack of boats and funds to buy them.
Established in 1962 by John Browne, the Boat Club has grown massively since its early days rowing on the Eden Estuary. Today in 2019, we have a total of 52 active members, which comprise our Novice and Senior squads who row at Loch Ore Meadows. From the beginning, our club has provided a friendly and supportive environment within which our members can develop their rowing skills and make new friends.
our Achievement
Despite numerous challenges, Boat Club still manages to compete successfully against the UK's top rowing programmes:
In 2018, we received our first BUCS medal rowing in Meridian (a high calibre boat recently donated to the Club).
In 2018, we set the fastest time in the Academic Challenge category at Fuller’s Head of the River Fours, also in Meridian.
We also won the University Shield for the W4- category at the British Championships – our first ever national title. In addition to multiple appearances and races at Henley Women's Regatta, Catalyst, another boat bought from alumni support, has allowed every squad to compete at major competitions throughout the season.
A new chapter
The club has recently entered a new era with the appointment of Director of Rowing Jordan Stanley. It is thanks to our previous Director, Iain Rice, and Jordan’s extensive knowledge and experience of the sport − along with the hard work and dedication of our athletes and members - that we have enjoyed our recent success.
But to grow and develop, we need to expand our fleet.
Jordan is in discussion with manufacturers to secure quotes which will allow us to purchase the necessary boat at cost. Ideally we would like to raise enough funds to buy 2 - that's our ideal goal! The boats are of high quality, so will be perfect for our top competitions such as the Henley Women's, Henley Royal Regattas or BUCS Regatta.
These are unprecedented opportunities for the club, but we need your help now to make it happen please!

So to raise enough funds to purchase both boats and increase the fleet capacity by 24% we need to raise a total of £35,000.
It’s a large number and the most ambitious fundraising project we have ever undertaken, but we have faith that our strong network of supporters will help us achieve our goals, perform to the best of our abilities and take the University of St Andrews Boat Club to a new level.
