Our Story

The 'Theatre Arts Society' is now a long standing society at the University of Essex. With 7 Years Gold Standard to our name, not to mention the award of Society of the Year 2015/16, we have become more of a family, welcoming in anyone from incoming first years, international students and mature students - not just those who study Drama at the University. Our biggest event of the year is our Christmas pantomime and it is an opportunity for roughly 30 members each year to become involved in one of the most fun experiences this society has to offer. The past few years have been thoroughly successful and we wish to continue the tradition with a little bit of help from you, the audience that help to make the atmosphere at the Lakeside Theatre the most special every Christmas.

'Peter Panto' is the 2016 edition of the annual pantomime brought to you by the University of Essex's Theatre Arts Society (TAS)! Written by two of the societies' members, Megan Sharman and Sophie Joshua. 'Peter Panto' will provide the usual laughs and innuendo as well as the typical fairytale ending that leaves the heartwarming feeling that we all know and love at christmas. We are looking for donations to help prepare for what already looks to be yet another successful pantomime and would kindly welcome any help that could be provided!

Your funding into this project will help us to buy a variety of things for the show such as costumes, props and materials to create the spectacular backdrop for the show that we have in mind! If our target has been raised then don't hesitate to still continue to help with our project - the more money we can raise, the better the show will be! We will invest more in promo materials such as flyers, posters and social media.
